UnipolSai takes down Rimini, shutout for Nettuno, Parma big over San Marino, and Padova wins in a comeback

After the first game of Interleague play in the Italian Baseball League it’s UnipolSai Bologna and Nettuno that sit at the top of the standings, with Rimini falling a game back after dropping one to Bolonga

After the first game of Interleague play in the Italian Baseball League it’s UnipolSai Bologna and Nettuno that sit at the top of the standings, with Rimini falling a game back after dropping one to Bolonga. San Marino continues to struggle, while Padova picks up a game on Godo.

Fortitudo Bologna got to it early against Pirates on Friday evening in Rimini with a 3 run third inning off of Michael Ekstrom. It was a rough inning for Rimini on the defensive side of the ball, as they ended up committing three errors, which lead to the three runs that was topped off by a 2 RBI single by Bologna’s second baseman, Vaglio. In the bottom of the 9th Rimini gave it their all off of a normally very tough Rivero, picking up two runs, however the game came to an end with two runners left on the sacs when Chiarini grounded out to 2nd to end the game. The two will face off once again in tonight in Rimini at 8:30 pm.

It was a disastrous night in Parma for T&A San Marino, as they were absolutely blown out of the water by Lino’s Coffee Parma by the final of 12-0 in a shortened 7-inning game. Picking up the win for Parma was Sanchez with 5 innings 2 hit, shutout ball. While suffering the loss for San Marino was Valerio Simone. Parma as a club knocked out 15 hits in 7 innings, 3 by Desimoni, and 2 apiece by Fanfoni, Benetti, Marval, Sambucci, and Scalera. The two will be on the field once again tonight in Parma at 8:30 pm.

 

Tommasin Padova improved to 3 and 4 on the season with a comeback win on Friday evening in front of their home crowd. The final in this pitchers duel was 2 to 1, as both Uvideo and Gonzalez were able to hold the opposing offenses in check throughout. Nettuno2 got out to the 1-0 lead in the top of the 4th when Martone began the inning with a double down the leftfield line which was then followed by another two bagger off the bat of Pedroso which drove in the games first run. In the bottom of the 5th Padova was able to tie the game at one-all thanks to an inside the park homer off the bat of Nick Nosti. In the Bottom of the 6th Padova went up for good when Sguassero drove in Sartori on single through the right side of the diamond. Closing the door for Padova was Acosta with two inning of work out of the pen.

 

In Godo it was the visiting Nettuno club that came out on top with a 7 to 0 victory over the Knights. The win by Nettuno now means that they are assured at least a share of the top spot in Division B at the end of the weekend. Nettuno’s offense banged out 15 hits in this one, of which included a three hit day for Federico Giordani, along with 2 hits apiece by Caradonna, Retrosi, Nunez, and Paoletti. On the bump for Nettuno Josè Lorenzo picked up the win with 5.1 inning of work, while Rodney Rodriguez went 3.2 for the save. Suffering the loss for Godo was Matteo Galeotti. The series will conclude this evening in Godo at 8:30 pm.
