UnipolSai and Tommasin sweep, while Godo and T&A San Marino earn the split

T&A San Marino was able to walk away with a 6-2 win in Parma against Lino’s Coffee on Saturday night. The game was close through the first 5 innings, however in the 6th and 7th T&A San Marino was able to break through for 5 runs off of Loardi, this coming after Rivera was relieved following 5 innings of 1 run ball. Picking up the win for San Marino was Junior Guerra, and it was Loardi that suffered the loss. For San Marino, both Reginato and Imperiali picked up 2 RBI’s, while Duran, Vasquez, and Imeriali all picked up 2 hits apiece. On a side note, San Marino’s first baseman, Giovanni Pantaleoni was taken to the hospital after he was involved in a collision at the first base bag. In the collision he suffered a contusion to the pancreas and a fractured scapula.

   

UnipolSai Bologna walked away with the series sweep on Saturday in Rimini. The final in this one was 8 to 3, as the scoring in this one got started in the top of the 1st on a two RBI single off the bat of Vaglio. In the bottom of the 2nd Rimini came right back to take the lead with a 3 run frame on 5 hits and an error. In the top of the 4th it was Bologna’s turn to come up big with a 4 run inning that was highlighted by a 3 RBI double by Liverziani. In the top of the 6th Bologna picked up two more runs which put the game at its final score, Infante began the frame with a leadoff homer. Suffering the loss for Rimini was Sandy Patrone, while on the other side of the ball it was Luca Panerati that earned the win with 5 innings of 3 run ball. Bologna now improves to 7 and 1 on the season as well as maintains their strong grip on the rest of Division A. With the loss Rimini drops into second in Division B in a tie with Parma at a 4 and 4 record.

Tommasin Padova comes up with the series sweep of Nettuno2 with their 4-3 extra inning victory. Padova took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st thanks to an RBI single off the bat of Pestana that plated Medoro. In the 7th Padova tacked on another thanks to a RBI single up the middle by Epifano. In the top of the 9th Nettuno2 was able to pick up two runs off of Jesus Medina to tie the game at two-all, while in the top of the 11th they were the first to tack on a run to take the 3 to 2 lead. In bottom half of the 11th it was Padova that got the final say when Chapelli was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, which forced in Pacini for the win. Padova moves to 4 and 4 on the season, which puts them in a tie with Godo for the second spot in the Division A. Nettuno2 fell to 1 and 7 in this their first season in the IBL.

In Godo the Knights evened up their series with Nettuno thanks to a strong outing by Calero. Godo’s southpaw went 7 strong innings of 2 hit 0 run ball. Ribeiro came on for the 2 inning save, giving up 1 run on 3 hits. Godo’s success in the runs column came in the 5th when Tanesini drove in Bucchi after his leadoff double, and when Meriggi singled in Tanesini with two outs. Nettuno came back with one run in the top of the 9th on a sac fly by Nunez, but Ribeiro was able to close the door with back-to-back strikeouts of Sforza, and Cibati. Godo moves to 4 and 4, while Nettuno drops to 5 and 3, but still remains in the top spot of the division.
