Team Italy qualifies for U18 Softball World Cup after Euro silver-medal finish

Despite beating Czech Republic 2-1 just two days prior in Prague, Team Italy suffered its only loss at the U18 European Softball Championship in the Euro Gold Medal Game against the defending champions via mercy rule in five innings by a score of 9-1 on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

Despite a 10-1 record during the European Softball Championship in Prague, Czech Republic, Team Italy settled for the silver medal after the Czechs defeated the Italians 9-1 and thereby won back-to-back Euro titles on Saturday, August 5, 2023. The night belonged to winning pitcher Amalie Chaloupkova, who allowed just one run on two hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.

The Italian offense was limited to a double by Felicia Di Pancrazio and and a single from Lucrezia Moretti. However, for Team Italy, the silver lining was punching a ticket to 2024 U18 Softball World Cup Group Stage.
