Division A

The first surprise of the weekend happened in Caronno when the Rhevendors took game one of the season 1-0 over the defending ISL champions, Rhibo La Loggia. In the second game of the double header Rhibo La Loggia was able to get back on track with a fairly easy 6 to 2 victory. Next week La Loggia will head home and to face off against Legnano, while Caronno will take on the Stars of Staranzano.

The only other game to take place in Division A of the ISL featured a matchup between Legnano and Bollate, and it was Bollate that took to the scoreboard early and often in both games one and two. Two 7 to 1 W’s thanks to some great pitching and consistent offense on Bollate’s side was the differences in this series. In game one it was Greta Cecchetti that earned the victory with 6 innings of work (4 hits, 1 run, 3 walks, 11 strikeouts). Parisi, G. Cecchetti, and Lazzarini all picked up 2 hits apiece, while G. Cecchetti and Costa both had 2 runs batted in. In game two Serena Boniardi went 5 for the ‘W’, while on the offensive side Melany Sheldon went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s, and Giorgia Perricelli went 2 for 4 with 3 runs batted in.

The matchup between Banco di Sardegna Nuoro and the Stars of Staranzano was rained out.

Division B

In the ISL’s Division B Forlí got off to a quick start in Parma against the newcomer to the league, the Old Parma Taurus. Game one was taken in 5 frames by the final of 8 to 1. 4 in the first, 2 in the third, and another 2 in the fifth was enough to put the visiting Forlí club in the victory column for the first time this year. Mara Papucci earned the win going five strong with 5 K’s, while Andrea Montanari (2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI’s) and Carlotta Zauli (1 for 2 with 3 RBI’s) did all the damage with the bat. In game two the win was picked up by Ilaria Cacciamani out of the pen, and it was Andrea Montanari that continued her hot day with the bat, going 3 for 5 with a homer, 2 runs scored and 5 runs batted in.

Elsewhere in Division B, Labadini Collecchio left Caserta speechless with two decisive victories, 11- 3 and 10-0. Two big wins for the second year ISL team Collecchio, and two devastating losses for the Caserta, a team that has done nothing but win over the last couple of years.

Lastly, Bussolengo took game one of the two game set over Dino Bigioni Unione Fermana in only five frames by the final of 10 to 3. Game two was a different story, needing 9 inning to decided the victor, but when the lights finally went out it was once again Bussolengo walking away with the win by the final of 4 to 3.
