The Federal Council approved a 4 million Euro budget for 2014 on Tuesday in accordance with CONI. The budget will focus on continued youth improvement as stated by FIBS President Riccardo Fraccari, “We’re doing wonderful things at the international level with our youth programs, and we plan on continuing in this direction.” At the meeting Fraccari, also touched on the possibility that both Baseball and Softball (under the WBSC) still have a chance at joining the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. He was very optimistic about this, and believes that good news may be coming out when the International Olympic Committee meets on the 8th and 9th of December of this year.

In addition to approving a 2014 budget, the Federal Council also finalized the terms (rules of play and scheduling) for the IBL (Italian Baseball League), the ISL (Italian Softball League), Series ‘A’ Baseball, along with both youth baseball and softball up and down the Italian peninsula. All the determined rules of play and scheduling that came out of the meeting will shortly be made available online.
