Team Italy U12 baseball squad prepares for Euros with training camp and exhibition games in Avigliana and Torino from June 29-July 3, 2023
Team Italy U12 baseball manager Stefano Burato has summoned 18 players for last minute preparations in Avigliana and Torino prior to departure for the U12 European Baseball Championship in Valenciennes, France from July 5-9, 2023.
Having completed a recent training camp in Cupramontana from June 13-15, 2023, the Team Italy U12 baseball squad meets again for additional training and exhibition games in Avigliana and Torino from June 29-July 3, 2023. It will serve as the final opportunity to prepare for the upcoming U12 European Baseball Championship in Valenciennes, France from July 5-9, 2023.
Team Italy U12 baseball manager Stefano Burato said, “In Cupramontana we were treated to the fine hospitality of Cupra Baseball. However, bad weather only allowed us to play two of the five scheduled games. As a result, we were unable to work all of our pitchers and practice enough defense so we hope to do those things in Avigliana and Torino.”
The Italians want to reclaim the Euro throne after a disappointing fourth-place finish in 2022 U12 European Baseball Championship. Team Italy had won four consecutive European championship titles prior to coming home without a medal in 2022. Germany, Czech Republic and Kingdom of the Netherlands are the frontrunners in 2023 Euros.
Team Italy skipper Stefano Burato said, “"For such a short tournament, all games are decisive and no team should be underestimated, Host France is also a strong team. Great Britain is always an unknown and is made up of players from the London Archers, a team I saw playing in Barcelona and have since participated in international tournaments. As far as Germany is concerned, I observed them during the spring in Barcelona and they have trained vigorously. They are the team to beat."
In Avigliana and Torino, Team Italy manager Stefano Burato will be assisted by coach Ivano Licciardi, bench coach Simona Conti, pitching coach Alessandro Rosa Colombo, hitting coach Andrea Tulli, team physician Dr. Lorenzo Ticini, physiotherapist Mirko Pancellini and delegation manager Gaetano Cristiano.
