Parma takes down Rimini, San Marino splits, Padova over Bologna, Nettuno sweeps

Lino’s Coffe Parma picked up the win over Rimini on Saturday evening in Rimini by the final of 5 to 4 in order to walk away with the series spit

Lino’s Coffe Parma picked up the win over Rimini on Saturday evening in Rimini by the final of 5 to 4 in order to walk away with the series spit. Rimini was haunted by a total of 3 errors, and it was a big 4 run 7th by Parma’s offense turned out to be the difference in this one. A walk by Giannetti, a single by Scalera, an error with Fanfoni at the plate that allowed Giannetti to score, an RBI bunt single by Leoni, then the big two RBI double off the bat of De Simoni which caped off the four run frame. Picking up the win for Parma was Sanchez with 6 innings of work on the hill (6 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned, 4 walks and 10 strikeouts). Suffering the loss on Rimini’s side was Cherubini.

T&A San Marino was able to bounce back on Saturday with a big ‘W’ after a disappointing loss in Godo on Friday evening. San Marino put up a total of 12 runs to Godo’s 2. Having a big day with the stick for San Marino was Simone Albanese, going 4 for 5 at the plate with 2 runs scored and two RBI’s. Junior Guerra picked up his second win on this young season with 5.2 innings pitched, and it was Cubilan who closed the door. On a side note, the veteran Jairo Ramos inched closer to 1000 career hits in the Italian Baseball League.

    

Down in Nettuno, Nettuno came out with the win over Nettuno2, thus completing the sweep of the two game series. 7 to 3 was the final as Nettuno2 wasn’t able to hang in the later half of the game, giving up 4 runs in the top of the 9th to Nettuno. In total Nettuno left a total of 19 runners on base and committed 4 errors, but when the game was all said and done Scerrato’s club was able to walk away with the tight victory, pushing their record to 3 and 1 on the season. Earning the ‘W’ for Nettuno was their new acquisition, the southpaw Florian. Retrosi, Nunez, Gibati, Castri, and Paoletti all had 2 hit games for Nettuno, while Cibati, and Evangelista both drove in 2 runs each.

Tommasin Padova picked up their second win on the season, this time over UnipolSai Bologna by the final of 5-2. The difference in this one turned out to be a big 5 run 4th off of Luca Panerati (4 earned runs) and Riccardo De Santis (1 unearned run). Suffering the loss for Bologna was Panerati, as the lefty gave up a total of 4 earned runs over 3.2 innings of work. Picking up the win was Ronald Uviedo thanks to 5 innings of 1 run ball. For Padova the door was closed on Bologna’s offense by the combo of Enrico Crepaldi and Nibaldo Acosta. The win puts Padova in a good spot heading in to the third week of the 2014 addition of the Italian Baseball League, as they now sit with a two and two record and Godo as their opponent in week three when San Marino (2-2) and Bologna (3-1) face off in the other series in Division A.
