Only one game took place in Division A on Friday evening, and it was that between T&A San Marino and the Godo Knights, while Tommasin Padova and UnipolSai Bologna get pushed back a day due to a heavy rainfall.

The matchup between the home T&A San Marino club and the visiting Godo Knights turned out to be a lopsided one on Friday evening. The final in this one was 10-0 as San Marino’s mound and offense turned out to be too much for Godo to handle. On the bump Junior Guerra (7th of the season) picked up the ‘W’ with 6 solid innings of scoreless baseball before handing the ball over to Luca Martignoni who came on for a scoreless 7th inning. In the box for San Marino, Jairo Ramos picked up two doubles, while Vasquez, Avagnina (3 RBI double), Reginato, and Imeriali all had one apiece. In the 2nd Macaluso (3 run homer) picked up his second homer of the year which put the score at 5 to nothing. The series will conclude this evening in Godo with the first pitch scheduled to be thrown at 8:30 pm.

In Division B the Rimini Pirates took on Lino’s Coffee Parma in Rimini on Friday evening. It was a game that was dominated by Rimini’s mound, as they allowed only a single hit which came off the bat of Marval in the 2nd inning. From there on out the combination of Ekstrom, Escalona and Marquez did nothing but shut down Parma’s offense as they put up zero after zero. On Rimini’s side of the ball it was Romero (2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s), Chiarini (2 for 4 with 1 RBI), and Spinelli (2 for 5 with 1 RBI) that did most of the damage at the plate for the Pirates. Even though Parma suffered the loss in this one they will be the second and final team moving onto the second round of this year’s Italian Baseball League after Nettuno fell to Nettuno2 on Friday evening. This two game set between Rimini and Parma will continue this evening in Parma at 8:30 pm.

Down in Nettuno, the city that goes by the name of ‘La Città di Baseball’, the city’s two teams went at it on Friday evening for game one of a two game derby. On Friday Nettuno2 got the best of Nettuno for the first time in the history of this young, but intense rivalry. The final in this one went by the score of 8 to 2, and it was Norberto Gonzalez that picked up the ‘W’ with 7 strong innings pitched on the bump. Suffering the loss on Nettuno’s side was Lorenzo after he gave up an uncharacteristic 6 earned runs before being removed from the game in the second inning. The two sides will go at it again this evening down in Nettuno with the game set to get underway at 8:30 pm.
