Fortitudo UnipolSai Bologna announced the acquisition of Nelson Perez, a left-handed slugger out of the Dominican Republic.
Perez will be looked upon to man left field and fill in the four spot in the lineup for Bologna in 2014. This left-handed bat has been playing in the US since 2007, playing for the Chicago Cubs organization. Perez made it as high is AAA in the Mexican League with both the Tabasco Olmecas and Monclova Acereros. His career minor league stats read: .266 AVG, .459 SLG%, with 101 doubles, 34 triples, and 81 homeruns, in 627 games played.
