Undefeated Team Italy leaves Canada with confidence for U18 Baseball World Cup in Florida

Team Italy won its fourth consecutive exhibition game in Canada after defeating Toronto Metropolitan University 10-4 on Saturday, September 3, 2022 and later departed for the U18 Baseball World Cup in Bradenton and Sarasota, Florida.

After a visit to the editorial office of Team Italy partner Corriere Canadese, the Azzurri squad took off on a flight from Toronto to Tampa en route to the U18 Baseball World Cup in Bradenton and Sarasota, Florida. Through the hard work of organizing host Flavio Volpe and Team Italy coaching coordinator Gianmarco Faraone, the week of preparation in Toronto, Ontario, Canada was a massive success. The Azzurri baseball squad now has a renewed sense of confidence approaching the international competition from September 9-18, 2022.

Playing a nine-inning exhibition game against Toronto Metropolitan University at Keelesdale Park on Saturday, September 3, 2022, the Team Italy U18 baseball squad was firing on all cylinders. Azzurri manager Francesco Aluffi was proud of his flawless defense and explosive offense.  

The Team Italy offensive attack was led by Marco Ragionieri (2-for-3), Alessandro Volpe (2-for-3) and Williams Wong (2-for-3). Azzurri captain Tommaso Adorni went 1-for-2. The pitching arsenal of Giacomo Taschin (4 IP), Davide Montanari (4 IP) and Sebastiano Catellani (1 IP) got the job done for Team Italy in the 10-4 victory over Toronto Metropolitan University.

The Italians play their final exhibition game before the start of the U18 Baseball World Cup against Kingdom of the Netherlands in Florida on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
