La Loggia and Bussolengo shine at the top

In Division A Rhibo La Loggia was able to lengthen their lead over Bollate with a two game sweep of Banco di Sardegna Nuoro. Game one of this double dip in La Loggia was a close one with La Loggia coming out on top by the final of one to nothing on the back a brilliant performance by Elisa Brandino, who threw a complete game four hit shutout for the win. Suffering the loss on Nuoro’s side was Paola Cavallo. In game two Rhibo had a much easier time with Nuoro. The final in this one was 8 to 1, as Rhibo was able to pick up 2 runs in the first, 1 in the third, 4 in the fourth, and 1 more in the fifth. Picking up the win for Rhibo was Lindsey Beisser, while at the plate it was Beatrice Ricchi that shined with a 2 for 2, 3 RBI game. With the two wins, Rhibo La Loggia moved to 12 and 4 on the season and were able to lengthen their lead to 2 and a half games over Bollate after their series split with Staranzano. In game one of this two game set Bollate walked away with an easy 12 to 5 win. Picking up the win for Bollate out of the pen was Serena Boniardi, while suffering the loss for the Stars was Teresa Cernecca. At the plate Laura Costa had a huge day, going 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI’s, including a 3 run inside the park homer in the bottom of the 1st.  In game two the pitchers dual between Mikayla Edicott and Greta Cecchetti was a great one, however in the end it was Edicott that came out with the shut out victory after her club was able to score one off of Cecchetti in the top of the 6th. At the end of Saturday’s play Bollate now sits at 9 and 6, while the Stars of Staranzano sit at 9 and 7. Lastly in the division, Legnano and the Caronno Rheavendors split their two game set, with Legnano taking game one by the final of 7 to 0, and Caronno game two by the final of 5 to 2. In game one the ‘W’ went to Alessia Buscaglia, while in game two it was Anyibell Ramirez who walked away with the win for Caronno.

  

The big series of the week in Division B between Fiorini Forlí and Specchiasol Bussolengo turned out to be a disastrous series for Forlí. In game one of this two game set Bussolengo took the match by the easy final of 11 to 3. Alice Ronchetti picked up the complete game victory with 7 innings of 3 run ball, while in the box Alexis Bennet was spectacular with her 4 for 4, 2 run, 3 RBI game. In game 2 Bussolengo got out to a quick 3 run lead, and never looked back. Picking up the shutout victory for Bussolengo was Kimberly Bruins, as she successfully outdueled Ilaria Cacciamani. The two game sweep keeps Bussolengo perfect in 2014, while drops Forlí a game back of Collecchio after their sweep of Parma on Saturday afternoon and evening. Game one in Collecchio went by the final of 11 to 3 as it was the efforts of DelRio Beatrice on the bump as well as the fact that Collecchio’s offense was able to score a run in every inning of the ball game. In game two the story was much of the same with Collecchio’s ace, Madison Holub on the rubber. Holub threw a perfect game for Collecchio, which included a 16 strikeout performance. The two game sweep now catapults Collecchio into the second spot in the division, a game up on Forlí. Lastly in the division Caserta took two close games from the still winless Dino Bigioni Unione Fermana. Game one was take 4 to 3 with Susanna Mancini picking up the win, while game two was won by the final of 2 to 1 with Anisley Lopez earning the victory.
