CON-X 2024 opens door to new possibilities

Last weekend CON-X 2024 took place at the Palacongressi in Rimini, home to the 2020 and 2023 editions of the Italian Baseball and Softball Convention. The event officially marked the start of the season with optimism for a bright future ahead.

A crowd of 1,000 enthusiastic baseball and softball lovers filled the Palacongressi in Rimini for three days of CON-X 2024 seminars and workshops to mark the beginning of the new season. In addition to presentations by the National Coaches Committee (CNT), the National Umpires Committee (CNA), the National Scorekeepers Committee (CNC), Baseball 5, physicians, trainers, physiotherapists, coaches, managers and players like San Diego Padres and Team Italy WBC catcher Brett Sullivan provided insight and wisdom seldom shared outside the clubhouse with those in attendance.

Change The Game presented the important Safeguarding course alongside its President Daniela Simonetti, sports champions Josefa Idem and Filippo Galli, attorneys Paola Puglisi and Valentina Aragona as well as international ambassador/Team Italy softball star Fabrizia Marrone, The program is central to commitment by FIBS in promoting codes of conduct for the protection of minors and for the prevention of harassment, gender violence and any other type of discrimination.

Steel Sports presented its training system called "Kids First" for the development of young athletes and students and how the synergy between sports training and education is paramount to success following the teaching of The Lasorda Way.

During his memorable speech after the award ceremony, FIBS President Andrea Marcon spoke about sport reform, the start of Club Italia LA28 in prepartion of the Olympics, the reopening of the National Academy and possibility of a world-class facility in Rome. He also announced his intention to seek a third term as the leader of the Italian movement during the upcoming election later this year.

Closing day two of CON-X 2024 last Saturday was Dan Peterson, legendary basketball coach (Virtus Bologna and Olimpia Milano) and sports commentator, who entertained the audience by telling anecdotes from his life, both during his career as a professional coach and in his childhood living in Chicago as a young ballplayer.
