It’s the last week of interleague play in the Italian Baseball League

It’s the last week of interleague play in the Italian Baseball League.

Getting started with the first of three ‘BIG’ series this Friday and Saturday we’re going to be taking a look at the matchup in San Marino, where T&A will be welcoming in Nettuno for two games. San Marino will still be without their southpaw, Cooper, their shortstop, Bittar, and their utility infielder, Pantaleoni (out for another 2 months). In the Italian game look for Morreale to get the start at first, Avagnina in left, Macaluso in right, and Reginato behind the dish. In the foreigner game things will shift around a little bit with Avagnina at first, Macaluso in left, Reginato in right, and Albanese behind the dish. San Marino’s manager hasn’t yet tipped his hand with who will be getting the ball in the Italian game (D’Amico or Simone), however in the foreigner game it will be Junior Guerra. On the other side of the ball Nettuno will have to get things done without their head coach, Scerrato, and coaches Cuevas and Guerra, who are all suspended. Missing from the lineup will be Giordani, while Paoletti may not be making the trip up north for this two game set for personal reasons. Expected to be back in action this weekend is Caradonna who should be slotted in in one of the outfield spots. The two starters for Nettuno will be Lorenzo and Morellini. Friday’s game is set to begin at 8:30 pm.

In Parma there is another great matchup between the home Lino’s Coffee club, and the visiting Tommasin Padova squad. Parma’s manager, Orlando Munoz, looks to be hiding his cards with who he will be sending to the mound on Friday and Saturday night, as is his counterpart, Smith (manager of Padova). For Tommasin Padova it will without a doubt be duo of Uviedo and Acosta in the foreigner game, while in the Italian game it looks as if Faccini just may get the nod. On the other side of the ball it will be Sanchez in the foreigner game, and most likely Loardi in the Italian game. Friday’s game is set to begin at 8:30 pm.

The last of the big three series will feature the Rimini Pirates and the Godo Knight, in Rimini on both Friday and Saturday evening. Everyone looks to be on hand for the Pirates in this series, with right-handed pitcher, Roberto Corradini looking to make his first appearance since the first week of the season. In the foreigner game Ekstrom will head to the hill in hopes of shutting down the Knights offense. On the other side of the diamond, Godo will be sending their Italian to the hill on Friday night (Galeotti), while it should be Calero and Ribeiro in game two. Currently Rimini is locked up in a three-way tie in division B with Parma and Nettuno, while in division A Godo sits a game back of both San Marino and Padova. Game one will get underway tonight at 8:30 pm.

This weekend in Bologna, Unipolsai Bologna will be playing host to Nettuno2 on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday night the festivities will be kicking off with the tour of the , a car event that takes place annually in Italy. As for the lineups, Bologna is going to be without the likes of Ambrosino and Rodriguez who are both disqualified, as well as Perez who has been cut by the organization after a disappointing start to the season. Also missing from the dugout will be their manager, Nanni, and coach Labastidas, who are both serving suspensions. It will be Williamson in the foreigner game, while in the Italian game Panaerati will once again be handed the ball. As for Nettuno2, it will be Gonzalez and Andrea Pizziconi who get the nod in Bologna on Friday (8:30 pm) and Saturday (8:30 pm) night.
