ROME – The FIBS Serie A Baseball League has made it through a wet opening of the regular season, and Rome and Reggio Emilia are out in front of their respective divisions after five weeks of baseball that has been plagued with rain and postponed games, some of which have yet to be made up.

In the North Division, Reggio Emilia has taken seven out of their eight games, but Padova is close behind with a record of 8-2.

Bollate has only managed to get in six of their contests, winning four of those.

At 6-4, the New Black Panthers are the only other team in the North Division to have a record above .500.

Rovigo and Juventus are both playing .500 baseball, with 3-3 records.

Codogno, a team that was competing in the Italian Baseball League 10 years ago, is 4-6 and among the bottom half of the divison.

Redipuglia, Lodi and Ponte di Piave all have a lot of ground to make up.

In the South Division, there is far more balance thus far than in the North Division.  Rome leads the pack with a record of 6-1.

Sala Baganza and Crocetta both boast 7-3 records and pose a threat to jump out in front.

Messina, Arezzo and Modena are all at or above .500, which suggests the top-half of the standings could go through many changes before the regular season comes to an end in early August.

Arezzo leads the entire league in team batting, while Rome’s 1.86 ERA is about a run less than that of the next best pitching staff, which belongs to the New Black Panthers.
