Extras needed in Nettuno, San Marino falls again

UnipolSai earned their third straight victory on Friday evening in front of their home crowd with a 1-0 win over Tommasin Padova. The matchup featured Williamson against Faccini, who both seemed to dominate the opposing teams lineups. The games only run came in the 6th when Rodriguez drove a ball of the wall for a double, plating Perez for what turned out to be the winning run of the ball game. The series will continue tonight in Padova with combo of Uviedo and Acosta going for Padova, while on the other side of the field it will be Panerati, De Santis, and Crepaldi.

In Godo, the defending IBL Champs, San Marino, fell for the second time of this young season, this time to the Godo Knights. The final in this one was 3-2. Picking up the win for Godo was Calero with four innings of work out of the pen, while the save went to Yulman Ribeiro after he came on for a perfect 9th inning of work. Suffering the loss was Valerio Simone. Godo picked up a run in the first, one in the third when Sanchez slugged a solo shot, and one more in the 5th. San Marino had their chances in this one to put up some runs, however when the dust settled at the end of the game a total of 16 runners were left on base. The two will faceoff again tonight in San Marino at 8:30 pm.

Division B

Down in the Nettuno the city was treated to a great extra inning affair between Nettuno and Nettuno2. The 1000 plus fans in attendance had to wait until the 10th inning to see to see the games only run cross the plate when Caradonna scored on a sac fly off the bat of Castri. In the bottom of the 10th Nettuno2 gave it a shot, however with two outs in the frame Restante stranded two runners on the bases when struck out looking to end the game. The series will conclude this evening in Nettuno with a game time of 8:30 pm

The final game on Friday evening in the Italian Baseball League featured the likes of the Rimini Pirates against Parma in Parma. 7-0 was the final in this one as the Pirates proved to be the better team on both sides of the ball. Chiarini, Zileri, and Salazar knocked homers for Rimini, with the big blow coming when Zileri knocked a 3 run shot out to left in the 4th. On the bump Ekstrom picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work before handing the ball over to Marquez and Escalona, as the two successfully closed the door on Parma. Suffering the loss for Parma was Yomel Rivera (5 innings pitched, 4 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, 1 strikeout). The series will now move to Rimini tonight with a start time of 8:30 pm
