Italy will look to defend their European Baseball Championship beginning on the 12th of September in Ratisbon, Germany, against Belgium

Italy will look to defend their European Baseball Championship beginning on the 12th of September in Ratisbon, Germany, against Belgium. This game one matchup has some historic roots attached to, as Belgium is the first team that team Italy ever faced back in June of 1954, and it was the Italians that took the game by a final of 6 to 1. The other clubs that Italy will be facing off against in Germany in the first round of this years tournament will be Sweden on the13th, France on the 14th, Germany on the 15th, and finally Great Britain on the 16th. The other bracket of this year’s tournament will be played in Ostrava, Czech Republic, with the participants being the always-dangerous Holland club, matched up against Spain, the Czech Republic, Greece, Croatia, and Russia.

The top three clubs in each bracket will earn the right to move onto round two of the Championship tournament in Brno, Czech Republic which is scheduled to get underway on the 18th of September, with the champion to be crowned on the 21st.
