CON-X 2024 program revealed, Dan Peterson named guest of honor
CON-X 2024 hosts the 38th gathering for coaches, the 19th meeting for umpires and 17th summit for scorers; however, the topics of the Italian Baseball and Softball Convention at the Palacongressi in Rimini from January 26-28, 2024 are dedicated to all areas so that there is something for everyone attending. CON-X 2024 is the most important event presented by Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball (FIBS) that brings together all facets of the movement from athletes, umpires, classifiers, managers, doctors and paramedics, trainers, coaches and sport enthusiasts for three days of workshops and presentations that will offer wide appeal to an individual’s personal interests.
The FIBS National Technical Committee has worked diligently to present an impressive list of internationally-renowned special guest speakers from the world of baseball and softball including: Becky Blatnick, Mike Candrea, Felice Cundari, Nancy Evans, Anthony Lucchese and Brett Sullivan. In addition, Andrea Cardone, head of the Performance Research Area, along with his group of Team Italy physical trainers will be joined by Senior Elite pitching coach Rolando Cretis and Baseball5 manager Maurizio Balla for workshops and practical game strategies with players.
Innovative developer Pier Piancastelli and Christian Silva will be on hand to work with San Diego Padres and Team Italy WBC catcher Brett Sullivan to demonstrate the latest technology from Blast Motion to enhance batting training for baseball and softball.
Two themes will be absolutely central to the event this year. One of these is on Sport Reform, dictated by Delegation Law n.86/2019 and its implementing decrees, which greatly concerns the managers of the ASD and their collaborators. An in-depth discussion on its various aspects will be presented by FIBS President Andrea Marcon, President of the Board of Auditors Alberto Rigotto and Attorney at Law Nadir Plasenzotti on Saturday, January 27, 2024. A Q & A session will immediately follow the presentation.
Another key topic is what could be summarized, in general terms, as the Well-Being of Girls and Boys for the Promotion of Youth Sports. Universally offered through individualized and personalized methods with the objective of offering young people and their families a healthy and rewarding experience, the program is intended to develop athletes. More importantly. it is hopeful that the athletes become better people, aware, respectful and respected for their passion for competitive sport and personal success.
The psychological and methodological aspect relating to sports teaching, included in the program built together with the Sports School of Sport and Health and coordinated by Claudio Mantovani, is presented by Professor Jean Côté, The standard bearer of 'transformational leadership', Professor Jean Côté returns to Rimini by popular demand with sport psychologists Sergio Costa, Luana Morgilli, Claudio Robazza and Daniele Stizza. The themes are those of managing emotions, possible conflicts, but also relationships with parents and the most correct way to involve families and children positively in sporting activity.
The creation of a positive environment is central to the methodological approach of Team Italy Partner Steel Sports, which will present its program inspired by the principles of Tommy Lasorda called The Lasorda Way with its slogan 'Kids First'. The Steel Sports managers will be in Rimini to explain their coaching method which is an integral part of the CNT's basic training and to meet as many coaches as possible, both through workshops and through their presence in the exhibition area. In addition, the Steel Sports managers will meet the staff of the Italian national teams to discuss strategies for the 2024 season.
In the same context, of great importance is the CON-X 2024 presence of FIBS social responsibility partner, Change The Game. Thanks to the work of association founder Daniela Simonetti, Change The Game will present a stellar group of speakers to bring its message against any type of abuse in sport and offer participants the opportunity to obtain federal certification in terms of Safeguarding Policy by providing all the information necessary to fulfill the obligations established by Legislative Decree no. 39/2021 for sports associations.
The 'Stop Abuse' topic will be treated not only from a legal point of view with the lawyers Valentina Aragona and Paola Puglisi, but also by the passionate expertise of two great sports champions such as Filippo Galli, who, in addition to winning championships and cups in football with Milan between the mid-80s and 90s, boasts decades of experience in the management of youth sectors, and Josefa 'Sefi' Idem, 43 medals (17 gold) for Italy in the K1 specialty of canoeing between the Olympics, World Championships, European Championships and Mediterranean Games and subsequently Senator of the Republic in the period 2013-2017, during which she dealt in particular with human and social rights, training and sport, also briefly holding the role of Minister in 2013 for equal opportunities, sport and youth policies. Change The Game ambassador and Team Italy softball sensation Fabrizia Marrone will also be present during the event at the Change the Game tent in the exhibition area.
There is no shortage of the paths of the National Umpire Committee and the National Classifiers Committee, which will present separately, as well in the exhibition area dedicated to editorial news for the diamond disciplines. Additionally, all Con-X 2024 participants are invited to the theatrical production "Batti and Corri” created by Enrico Ghizolfi and performed by Teatro Nuovo of Pisa Binario Vivo on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 7pm in the Sala della Piazza del Palacongressi.
