Bussolengo doesn’t miss a beat, La Loggia and Bollate slipup in one each

For Rhibo La Loggia it turned out to be a Saturday that didn’t go exactly as planed against Legnano. Game one of the two game series between these two rivals went in favor of Legnano by the final of 2 to 1. Picking up the win for Legnano was Silvia Durot with a line that read 7 innings pitched, 8 hits, 2 run, and 7 strikeouts. Suffering the loss for Rhibo was Elisa Brandino. In the box for Legnano it was Ilaria Pino that had a perfect 2 for 2 day with 1 of her teams 2 RBI’s.

In game two of the double header Legnano once again put the defending champs to the test after they got out to a 3-0 lead in the 3rd. However La Loggia would get the last say in this one when they were able to come up with a big 4 run top of the 7th thanks to 4 hits and an error. Picking up the win for Rhibo was Lindsey Beisser in a complete game effort, while suffering the loss in a disastrous 7th inning of work was Alessia Buscaglia. Rhibo La Loggia moves to 10 and 4 on the season, while Legnano sits at 5 and 7.

  

The number two in the division wasn’t able to capitalize on La Loggia’s slip up in their series after they too fell to Banco Sardegna Nuoro in game one of their two game series on Saturday by the final of 2 to 3. Bollate out hit Nuoro 7 to 2 but they also committed a total of 4 costly errors on defense. In the bottom of the 9th inning after Bollate had taken the 1 run lead, Nuoro came up with their only two hits of the day off of Greta Cecchetti, and with two outs in the frame. A single by Zicconi that drove in Pisanu, and a walk off single off the bat of Cavallo that plated Moore for the win.

In game two Bollate came right back with the win on the back of Alice Nicolini and her 7 inning complete game victory. This time it was Nuoro that out hit Bollate, but thanks to a huge 6 run 3rd that was caped off by a grand slam off the bat of Gretta Cecchetti, Bollate was able to salvage the series and keep pace with the top seed, Rhibo La Loggia in the standings, a game and a half off the pace.

  

The last series to take place in Division A was that which featured Staranzano and Caronno. In game one of this two game series it was Caronno that was able to walk away with the 10 to 9 victory. Caronno went up first in this one with 1 run in each of the first 3 innings of play, but the game got much tighter in the later innings when the Stars picked up 3 in the top of the 6th, which was then followed by a 4 run bottom half of the inning by Caronno. In the 7th these two clubs were at it again when Staranzano put up a 5 spot to take the lead, however Caronno was able to come up with the walk off victory with 3 of their own in the bottom of the 7th. Picking up the win for Caronno was Silvia Monopoli, while it was Russi that suffered the loss for the Stars

In game two it was the Stars turn to walk away with a ‘W’ thanks to a spectacular performance by Mikayla Endicott. The Stars hurler went 7 strong innings of work on the hill where she surrendered only a single hit. For the Staranzano it was Stefania Franco that picked up the games only RBI when she drove in Gasparotto in the 4th on an single to left.

  

  

In Division B Bussolengo kept it going against Parma with a two game sweep on Saturday. Game one went by the final of 5 to 2 with Specchiasol Bussolengo out scoring and out hitting their counterpart Parma. Parma went up on top first in this one with 1 in the 1st, however Bussolengo wouldn’t trail for long as the picked up 3 of their own in the top of the 2nd on 4 hits and an error. Picking up the complete game victory was Ronchetti, while suffering the loss on Parma’s side was Zavaroni.

Game two was taken in a blowout, with Bussolengo putting up a total of 13 runs to Parma’s 0. Kimberly Bruins earned the 4 inning win, giving up only a single hit in the process while striking out a total of 10 of 15 batters faced.

  

Labidini Collecchio also picked up the two game sweep on Saturday against Dino Bigioni Unione Fermana. 11 to 5 was the final in game one, with Beatrice Del Rio earning the win. At the plate it was Greta Longagnani that did most of the damage with her 4 for 5, 3 RBI, 2 run scored afternoon. In game two the Collecchio rode the back of Maddie Holub and her 1 hit 12 K performance. The final in this one was 8 to 0. With the two game sweep Collecchio moves to 9 and 5 in the division, while Unione Fermana remains winless in 2014.

  

Down south in Caserta, the series between Caserta and Fiorini Forlí was canceled due to bad weather in the area.
