Results and Standings

In the game that saw the veteran Jairo Ramos bang out his 1000 career hit in the IBL, the Fortitudo baseball club took down T&A San Marino for the second straight evening by the final of 9 to 7. After San Marino fell behind early in this one they were able to comeback and take the lead with a 4 run eighth, which put the game at 7 to 6. However in Bologna’s half of the very same inning they were able to push across another 3 to take the 9 to 7 lead and eventual victory. Both Vasquez (San Marino) and Perez (Bologna) hit solo shots out of the park for their teams. The win now pushes Bologna to a commanding 5 and 1 record in Division A, while San Marino drops to a very disappointing 2 and 4 on the season.

In Division A’s other series that featured the Godo Knights and Padova, it was Godo that walked away with the surprising 2 game sweep, and now complete control of second place in the division. Picking up the win for the Knights on the bump was the southpaw Calero, while closing the door for the save was Ribeiro. Godo improves to 3 and 3 on the year while Padova drops to 2 and 4.

In Division B, Nettuno was able to pick up the series split with a win over Lino’s Coffee Parma on Saturday evening. The final in this one was 4 to 3, as it was Nettuno that got off to a quick start against Lorenzo Gradali with 3 runs in the 1st. Parma made it a game wit 2 of their own in the top of the 3rd, but Nettuno was able to hang on to the lead thanks to the 5 innings of work out of the pen by the hard throwing lefty, Florian. Retrosi and Paoletti both had 2 for 4 days at the plate for Nettuno. The win by Nettuno puts them in a tie with Rimini for the top spot in the standings in Division B.

Lastly, game two of the two game series between Rimini and Nettuno2 seemed to be an evenly match contest through the first 6 innings of the game, however in the bottom of the 7th Rimini was able to put their efforts in high gear when they picked up 4 runs on 3 hits and error. In the bottom of the very next inning after Nettuno2 was able to plate one off of Del Bianco, Rimini struck for 2 more, which put the game out of reach. The final in this one was 6 to 1, with the win going to Del Bianco thanks to his 2.1 innings of work out of the pen. Both Alexander Romero and Jack Santora picked up 3 hits apiece, while Chiarini also had a nice day at the plate with a 2 for 4 performance.
