Bologna atop the IBL standings at the halfway point; Novara celebrates first win

ROME – The regular season of the Italian Baseball League has arrived at the midpoint, and Bologna is looking down at the rest of league.

Rimini, Nettuno and San Marino round out the top four teams, and this is significant because it will help the eight teams shift their game plans and objectives for the second half of the season, as only the top four team will move on to the playoffs at the conclusion of the regular season.

Week 7 results helped to divide the top half from the bottom half of the league.

Although there are just 1.5 games that separate first place Bologna from fourth place San Marino, there are 4 full games between the very same San Marino and fifth place Parma.

Over the weekend, Bologna won their series versus San Marino, taking two out of the three games. Bologna and San Marino each took away one-run victories before Bologna closed out the series with an 8-5 win.

Rimini pushed Parma down in the standings and nearly swept the Parmagiani, but ultimately dropped the third and final game of their series 15-14 in eleven innings.

Nettuno gobbled up Godo to register a full series sweep and pull Godo further down below the .500 mark.

Novara was finally on the other end of a sweep, winning their first, second and third game of the year, thus ending a harsh 18-game losing streak that had Novara front office seeking headache relief treatment since opening day.
