ROME – The baseball league in Italy tailored to visually disabled athletes and aficionados caught the attention of a major media outlet

ROME – The baseball league in Italy tailored to visually disabled athletes and aficionados caught the attention of a major media outlet. 

The New York Times published an on the Association of Baseball Played by the Blind’s (Associazione Baseball Giocato da Ciechi or AIBXC) baseball league, whose competition is recognized and fully sanctioned by the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS). 

FIBS President Riccardo Fraccari, in his role as chief of the International Baseball Federation, has already been studying strategies to incorporate baseball dedicated to athletes with physical disabilities or challenges at multi-sport platforms such as the Parapan American Games, where there are more resources available for such initiatives because the Para Games are staged in conjunction with a major multi-sport event such as the Pan-American Games or Asian Games.
