UnipolSai takes down San Marino, Godo in the last minute over Padova. Rimini big over Nettuno2, Parma wins in Nettuno.

Division AUnipolSai Bologna took game one over San Marino by the final of 2-0

Division A

UnipolSai Bologna took game one over San Marino by the final of 2-0. It was a tightly fought game that was dominated by both teams starting pitchers, Joey Williamson for Bologna and Junior Guerra for San Marino. In the end it was an error committed in the top of the 8th on a botched double play that turned out to be the difference in this one on the scoreboard. Bologna picked up one more in the 9th on a single by Malengo that drove in Grimaudo. Picking up the win for Bologna was Williamson, while the save went to Raul Rivero who came on for a scoreless 8th and 9th inning. The series will now move to Bologna on Saturday evening with a start time of 8:30 pm.

    

It was an evenly match game in Padova on Friday evening, a game full of excitement down to the very end. Both clubs picked up a run in the 1st, with Godo’s coming on an RBI single by Danilo Sanchez, and Padova’s coming on a sac fly off the bat of Chapelli. Padova broke the tie in the bottom of the 6th thanks to an RBI infield single with the bases loaded off the bat of Sguassero. In the top of the 9th Padova found themselves one out away from the victory with Nibaldo Acosta on the bump, however after a single by Molina, a game tying double off the bat of Sanchez, and then a go ahead single by Monari it was Godo that had the last laugh. Picking up the win with a scoreless 8th and 9th was Bassani. 3-2 was the final in this one, with the series now moving to Godo on Saturday evening with a game time of 8:30 pm.

Division B

The Rimini bats were on fire on Friday evening against Nettuno2, as the home team broke out for 13 runs in the 7 inning shortened game. Salazar got things started in the first with a two run shot, while Mazzanti laced a two run double in the second, with Perez doing the same in the 4th. The big back breaker in this one for Nettuno2 was the huge 7 run 5th, which literally closed the door on any glimmer of hope for the visiting Nettuno2 ballclub. Ekstrom was once again strong with 11 K’s in 5 innings of work, the seasoned right-hander also picked up the win for the Rimini Pirates. 13 to 0 was the final in this one. Game 2 will be played on Saturday evening in Rimini with a start time of 8:30 pm.

Lino’s Coffee Parma took game one down in Nettuno thanks to a spectacular outing by their right-handed starter, Sanchez (win). After a rocky start the Venezuelan pitcher sat down 16 consecutive batters before handing the ball over to Yepez who earned the save. Suffering the loss for Nettuno was José Lorenzo, who gave up 3 runs in 5 innings of work. Parma put the game out of reach with a big 5 run 9th, closing the door on any hope of a comeback. The final in this one was 8 to 1. Game two is scheduled for 8:30 pm down in Nettuno.
