Unione Fermana opens with a No-hitter, in their first of two wins on the day at the ‘Cup of Cups’

Dino Bigioni Unione Fermana came out on top in their opening game against the Therwil Flyers of Switzerland at the ‘Cup of Cups’ in Montegranaro, Italy on Monday. The final in this one was 8-0, and the story was the combined no-no thrown by Kimberly Reeder and Melissa Roth. In the box it was the heavy hitting of Alicia Herron and her two homers that accounted for 3 of the 8 runs in the game, while Erika Abbruzzetti also had a nice 2 for 2 day with the bat.

Unione Fermana was victorious in their second matchup of the day as well, this time over the Brasschaat Braves by the final of 9 to 2. 2 in the first, 3 in the third, and 4 in the fourth lead the way to the large margin victory and the 2 and 0 start for the Italian club in the ‘Cup of Cups’. On the bump it was Kimberley Reeder that picked up her second win of the day with 4 innings of work, where she allowed 3 hits and 2 runs, only one of which was earned. Reeder also recorded 9 of her 12 outs via the strikeout. In the box it was the top three bats that did all the damage, Abbruzzetti and her 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored, Badagliacca 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, and Herron with her 2 for 3, 3 runs scored and 7 RBI’s thanks to two long balls, one of which was a grand slam (3^rd and 4^th homers of the tournament).

Up next for the Italian club will be the Soder SK team out of Sweden on Tuesday the 20^th at 20.00.
