The Italian Softball League will be back in action this weekend after a week off due to national team play. With only two weekends to go (4 games in total) there is still a lot to be written on the playing field before the final four squads can be named for the semifinal round.

In Division B there is one club that is just about assured a spot in the semis, that being Specchiasol Bussolengo. Bussolengo has thus far run away with the league, as they are currently supporting a perfect record. Even though they are not 100% in at the moment it’s safe to say they are 99.9% assured of being one of the two teams in the semifinals out of Division B. This weekend Bussolengo will go up against Labadini Collecchio, the number two in the division. If Bussolengo is able to walk away with just one win, they are in. On the other side of table, Collecchio is fighting to be that second team out of the division to move onto round two. Just a season removed from being one of the last in the league they are without a doubt surpassing any preseason expectation with their play on the field. Led by Madison Holub, Collecchio looks to be there in the end, hoping to hold off Forlí. As for Forlí it looks as if they have the easy road this weekend when they go up against Dino Bigioni Unione Fermana, the only club that has yet to win a game in this year’s 2014 Italian Softball League. By weekends end the outlook looks good that it will be Forlí who takes control of the number 2 spot in the league, all depending of course on Holub and if she can control the bats of Bussolengo. Finally in Division B Caserta hopes on taking two from Taurus Parma, a team that hia just one win to their name thus far in 2014. A two game sweep by Caserta will once again make their season a little bit more interesting heading into the last week of the regular season.

Bussolengo vs. Collecchio – Game 1: 18:30, Game 2: 21:00

Forlí vs. Unione Fermana – Game 1: 18:30, Game 2: 21:00

Parma vs. Caserta – Game 1: 18:30, Game 2: 21:00

In Division A the situation is much of the same and more. At the moment there are only 3 games separating the top three clubs in the division, with those running for a postseason spot including the likes of Rhibo La Loggia, Bollate, and the Stars of Staranzano. This weekend the Stars will face off against Legnano for two games in Staranzano with game one set for 18:30 and game two for 21:00. The big match of the week in the division will take place in Bollate between Bollate and Rhiob La Loggia, at the moment La Loggia holds a two game advantage on Bollate, but with a two game sweep that lead can be quickly erased in a mater of 24 hours. Finally in the division the last series of the week will take place between Banco di Sardegna Nuoro and the Caronno Rheavendors. Nuoro thus far in 2014 has only 3 wins to their name, while Caronno will be looking to get back to a .500 mark (currently (7 and 9).

Staranzano vs. Legnano – Game 1: 18:30, Game 2: 21:00

Bollate vs. La Loggia – Game 1: 18:30, Game 2: 21:00

Nuoro vs. Caronno – Game 1: 18:30, Game 2: 21:00
