T&A, Lino's Coffee and UnipolSai all sweep, while Rimini and Padova split

UnipolSai Bologna continued their march towards the postseason with yet another two game sweep down in Nettuno

UnipolSai Bologna continued their march towards the postseason with yet another two game sweep down in Nettuno. San Marino was able to pick up their first sweep of the year against Nettuno2. Parma took two close ones against Godo, and finally Rimini came back to life on the back of Ekstrom.

UnipolSai Bologna picked up the two game sweep down in Nettuno thanks to a 6 to 1 victory on the backs of Panerati and De Santis. 5 of Bologna’s 6 runs came in the 1st and 2nd innings of the game, with 3 coming in the 1st off of 3 walks, a costly error by Lionetti at second, and a hit. Bologna picked up one more run in the 8th when Infante doubled down the leftfield line, which scored Fuzzi. With the win Bologna moves to 11 and 1 on the season, while Nettuno drops to 6 and 6, and a half game out of first place in Division B.

    

In Padova, Ekstrom was pretty much unhittable for Tommasin Padova on Saturday evening. The righty went 6 innings for the win, and gave up only 2 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 8 in his effort. Rimini put up a total of 4 crooked numbers, 3 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 3 more in the 6th, before finishing off the night with 4 in the 9th. With the stick, Babini, Santora, Salazar, and Bertagnon picked up 2 hits apiece. The win now puts Rimini in first place by a half a game, ahead of both up Parma and Nettuno. Rimini will be back on the field on Tuesday in San Marino for a makeup game.

   

T&A San Marino picked up their first two game sweep of the season after they were able to shut out Nettuno2 for the second straight day in a row by the final of 8 to 0. San Marino’s offense took awhile to come alive in this one, but when it did in the second half of the game they were able to strike for 8 runs off of Norberto Gonzalez, Richetti, and Pecci. In the 5th T&A picked up 2 thanks to the efforts of Mazzuca, Avagnina, Reginato, and Albanese. It was a leadoff single by Mazzuca, a sac bunt by Avagnina, an RBI single by Reginato, and an RBI double by Albanese. The very next inning Vasquez picked up his second homer of the year off of Gonzalez, it was a solo shot to left that put the score at 3 to 0. San Marino was back at it in the 6th when they picked up two off of Richetti thanks to three consecutive hits by Imperiali, Albanese, and Macaluso. In the top of the 9th Albanese topped off his 4 for 4 day at the plate with an RBI double to left, which was then followed by a 2 run homer off the bat of Macaluso. The two game sweep now gives new life to San Marino, as they were able to pull within a half a gave of Padova for the second spot in Division A.

Lino's Coffee Parma was able to just get by the Godo Knights on Saturday evening in Godo. In this one it was Godo that got off to a quick start with one in the 1st off of José Sanchez when Danilo Sanchez singled through the left side to score Tanesini. In the 3rd Godo picked up another 2 runs when Bucchi smacked a two run homer over the leftfield fence. In the 7th Parma was able to climb back in the game with three runs of their own off of 3 hits and some control problems by Ribeiro. In the 10th inning Parma broke the game wide open when the scored 5 run on 4 hits and an error, which completely put the game out of reach. Picking up the win for Parma was Yepez, who came on in the 9th for two scoreless innings of work. Parma’s first baseman, Alex Sambucci had a nice day at the dish, going 4 for 5 with 2 runs scored. The two game sweep was a big one for Parma, as they now are once again in reach of a playoff spot.
