Riccardo Fraccari became the first elected President of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). The news of the election results came out of Tunisia earlier today at the first ever electoral congress held by the WBSC. Fraccari’s election as the president of the confederation came with no doubt after the only other name on the ballot (Don Porter) dropped out of the race before the ballots were casted.

"It’s a great honor to be at the head of the baseball and softball movement world wide. The position comes with a great deal of responsibility” expressed Fraccari. “I expect the term to be full of aspirations and expectations.”

Beng Choo Low of Malesia was also elected to the General Secretary position after her only counterpart (Jan Esselman) also dropped out of the race.

Being ellected as the Treasurer was Angelo Vicini of San Marino who won out over René Laforce of Belgium.

The elected Members at Large are Taeko Utsugi (Japan), Tommy Velasquez (Puerto Rico), Ron Finaly (Australia) and Paul Seiler (USA).

The WBSC is the only Baseball and Softball confederation that is recognized by the IOC (International Olympic Committee).
