Parma looking to wrap things up

On Friday the 30th and Saturday the 31st the Italian Baseball League will be in action in the second to last week of this year’s first round of play

On Friday the 30th and Saturday the 31st the Italian Baseball League will be in action in the second to last week of this year’s first round of play. At the moment Bologna has claimed the rights to the top spot in Division B, while San Marino will be going in as the number two seed. In Division B Rimini is in, while Parma needs just one win over their next four games to move on, or a single loss by Nettuno.

This evening and tomorrow evening Rimini and Parma will go at it in what looks to be a series that could determine the seeding heading into round two out of Division B. On Rimini’s side, manager Catanoso will go with Patrone and Ekstrom as his two starters. While Parma and manager Munoz will look to counter with Josè Sanchez and Nicolas Giovanelli. Absent from Rimini’s lineup this weekend are Gomez and Mazzanti, with the two ballplayers looking to fill in the missing gaps to be Di Fabio and Babini.

Down in Nettuno the derby of the two Nettuno clubs will get underway tonight with a game time of 8:30 pm. Nettuno is still clinging onto some home of a second round bit, however the situation doesn’t look so bright for them at the moment. With this said the matchup between Nettuno and Nettuno2 this weekend should be a good one as both teams will be fighting for bragging rights in the ‘City of Baseball’. Going for Nettuno in the foreigner game will be Lorenzo while in the Italian game Florian looks to be the frontrunner to get the ball. On Nettuno2’s side it looks to be Norberto Gonzalez and Andrea Pizziconi to go in games one and two on the bump.

In Division A UnipolSai Bologna will be out for a little revenge when they take on Padova tonight and tomorrow, with Padova being the only blemish on Bologna’s record thus far in 2014. Game one of this two game set will get underway tonight in Padova at 8:30 pm, while game two is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 pm in Bologna. Going on the bump for Padova in game one should be their foreigner, Uviedo, while in the Italian game Crepaldi looks to be the frontrunner to get the ball. On the other side of the diamond Bologna will be welcoming back in Rodriguez after his five game suspension. In game one look for Panerati go get the call, with Williamson to go in game two.

In San Marino this evening T&A will be welcoming in the Godo Knights for the first of two games. The matchup will get underway tonight at 8:30 with Junior Guerra expected to go for San Marino and Casalini for Godo. When the series shifts to Godo on Saturday evening it will be Calero who will get the 8:30 start for the Knights while Valerio Simone will be going for San Marino in hopes of continuing his string of solid outings.
