Caserta, takes game one.. and two, Unione Fermana remains undefeated on day two at the ‘Cup of Cups’

DES Caserta took their first game of the day over Zvezda, 3-2, at the European Softball Champions Cup on Tuesday morning

DES Caserta took their first game of the day over Zvezda, 3-2, at the European Softball Champions Cup on Tuesday morning. Dagmar Bloeming went 6.2 innings on the mound, but it was Lindsey Beisser that picked up the win after Zvezda tie the game up at 2-all in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th, Caserta walked off Zvezda thanks to a couple of defensive errors and a sac fly by Giulia Longhi that drove in Priscilla Brandi from third.

In Caserta’s second go at it of the day they had a little bit of an easier time against Nika Duhl, the team out of Ukraine. The game lasted only 5 innings and finished 8-0 nothing in the box score. DES Caserta’s offensive attack was able to put together three good innings, one of which included a 5 run 3rd. While on the mound, Lindsey Beisser picked up her second win of the day with her 5 inning, complete game performance, where she allowed only 2 base runners on 2 hits. With the bat it was Hailey Wiginton (1 for 2, 2 runs scored), Cassidy Bell (3 for 3, 1 RBI and 3 runs scored), Giulia Longhi (2 for 3 with 1 runs scored and 4 RBI’s), and Lindsey Beisser (1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI’s) that did most of the damage.

Tomorrow Caserta will be back at it with another two games at the European Softball Champion Cup in Prague. Game one will be against the Skovde team out of Sweden, and game two against Alcmaria Victix from the Netherlands.

               

At the ‘Cup of Cups’ in Montegranaro, Italy Unione Fermana had an easy go at it in their matchup with Soder Sk of Sweden on Tuesday evening. The Italians took the game the evening game by the final of fifteen to nothing in 3 innings. Picking up the win for the Unione Fermana was Luana Luconi. She went all three innings in the shortened game, where she gave up only one hit and one walk, while striking out an impressive 7 of 11 batters faced. On the offensive side, Abbruzzetti was able to hold onto her impressive perfect batting average in the tournament thanks to her 2 for 2 day with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. The 2nd baseman is now 7 for 7 thus far in the cup competition, with 7 runs scored and 1 RBI. Tomorrow Unione Fermana will take on the Gryphones of the Netherlands as they look to keep their perfect overall record heading into the next round of the tournament.
