Blackjack for Rimini, easy picking for Bologna, Reggio Emilia and Parma begin their derby

In a game in which San Marino held two leads (2 run lead in the 3rd and a 1 run lead in the 5th) ended finishing very differently in the box score as Rimini banged out 22 hits and 21 runs putting up many crooked numbers from the 4th through 8th. The game featured 4 long balls by Chiarini (Rimini), Vasquez, Reginato, and Albanese (San Marino) and a total of 31 hits. 6 of the starters in Rimini’s lineup recorded multi-hit games (Santora, Chiarini, and Castro all had 4 hits). For the first time this season Tiago Da Silva really struggled on the mound. His evening ended after 5.2 innings, 8 hits, and 6 earned runs. Enorbel Marquez picked up the win for Rimini, throwing the last 3.1 of the game. Tonight the series moves to Rimini with a game time of 20.30 (local time).

Unipol Bologna finished off their Thursday with a fairly easy victory over the Godo Knights on the road,winning the game 14-4. Bologna went up 6-1 after 3 innings, but Godo was able to make it a game by coming back with 3 in the 5th. However 6 runs in the 6th and 2 in the 9th put the game completely out of reach for the knights. Alessandro Valgo knocked two homers in the game, going 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s. Six different pitchers threw for Bolonga with Raul Rivero picking up the victory with two innings of no-hit ball. Notably Juan Carlos Infante (Bologna) recorded his 300th hit in the Italian Baseball League, and Mirko Caradonna his 100th (Godo Knights). Tonight Unipol will open its doors to the Knights with the series moving to Bologna, 20.30 game time.

Tonight the derby between Reggio Emilia and Parma begins in Reggio. This is the first time that these two teams will face off since the 2009 season. Both Reggio Emilia and Parma will be returning to action after only being able to get in one game each last weekend when Reggio took their game against Grosseto and Parma was victorious over Novara. “The objective heading into this series is to take two game from Reggio, then two more next week against Ronchi which should put us back in the playoff race.” Munoz, Parma’s Manager       Parma will still be without Nicholas Giovanelli who is out with shoulder problems. He’s expected to return to action next week against The New Black Panthers. Josè Sanchez and Nicolò Loardi have been named the two starters by Munoz, with Sanchez most likely taking the ball tonight in Reggio.

“This is a series that we would like to win, a derby and it should be a good one.” Andrea D’Auria, GM Reggio Emilia       Macaluso is in question and its uncertain whether or not he’ll be lacing then them up this weekend against Parma. If he does it will most likely be in a pinch-hitting or DH role. The outfielder is recovering from a torn calf-muscle that he suffered against Bologna back on the 11th of May. As for the rest of the group, Carrion will be getting back Piazza at second base (missed last weeks games for personal reason), while Biagini, Epifano and Tagliavini will round out the rest of the infield. In terms of who will be taking the ball with the task of shutting down Parma’s offence is still uncertain, however in the Italian game it should be Crepaldi with Bertolini out of the pen.
