Team Italy U18 Baseball5 squad begins season with workout in Aosta on March 28 & 29, 2024

Team Italy manager Maurizio Balla has summoned 22 prospects for a two-day workout in Aosta to prepare for the U18 Baseball5 European Championship, which will take place at the end of October in Clermont Ferrand, France.

A total of 22 Team Italy U18 Baseball5 prospects, twelve boys and twelve girls born between 2006 and 2009, will gather in Aosta on March 28 and 29, 2024 for a two-day workout under the watchful eye of manager Maurizio Balla and his staff. The players will be competing for a roster spot for the upcoming U18 Baseball5 European Championship in Clermont Ferrand, France beginning October 29, 2024.

Team Italy Baseball5 manager Maurizio Balla said, “We have decided to change the way we work. We will organize a series of camps in order to arrive at the end of August with the definitive squad, made up of six girls and six boys, with whom we will work specifically in the three remaining months before the European Championship."

The Italian skipper continued, “The WBSC has decided to align Baseball5 with the ages of the other Baseball championships so we will have the possibility of bringing with us the 2006 class, which includes Cristian Agresta and Alessandro Micheli, who participated in the senior European Championships. The idea is to build a team that can enter the top four and play at least the semifinals. There is no shortage of players and already from this workout  in Aosta we will see a new group with which we can work well. We will not have Filippo Sabatini, who has been called up for the U18 Baseball workout, but we will see him in the coming months."

The following players are expected to participate in Aosta:
