Tommasin Padova got the best of Nettuno down in Rome on Saturday evening, a day after dropping their Friday extra inning affair. The final in Saturday’s game was 7 to 4, with 5 of the 7 runs being produced by the long ball… 2 Sciacca, 1 Epifano. Picking up the win for Padova was Enrico Crepaldi with his 6 innings of 5 hit, 2 run ball. The save went to Simone Bazzarini who came on in relief in the 7th. Nettuno had their chances in this one, as they were able to bang out 10 hits in the game, reached base 6 times via the base on balls and another 3 times on errors (5 errors in all committed by Padova), they however stranded a total of 12 men on the sacs. The win pushes Padova to 13 and 9 on the season, and keeps them one game ahead of both Nettuno and San Marino in the standings.
T&A San Marino was able to keep pace in their postseason push thanks to a huge 12-2 win over the Godo Knights in San Marino on Saturday evening. Picking up the win for San Marino was Andrea Pizziconi. Pizziconi went 6 innings on the hill, where he allowed 5 hits, 2 walks and surrendered just 2 runs to the Knights. The loss went to Galeotti who got banged around in the 1st inning for 7 runs off of 6 hits and 2 walks. At the plate the trio of Mazzuca, Chiarini and Avagnina went a combined 7 for 10. The win now puts San Marino in a deadlock tie with Nettuno for the 4th and final postseason spot in the IBL with 6 games to go, while the loss suffered by Godo pretty much closes the door on any postseason hopes.
UnipolSai Bologna had very little problem picking up the two game sweep of Parma in Parma on Saturday evening, as they took the second game of the series by the final of 7 to 2. The win was earned picked up by Luca Panderati out of the pen, who came on in relief of Riccardo De Santis in the 6th in a 1-1 ball game. Suffering the loss for Parma was Matteo Spada who surrendered the go ahead run in the top of the 6th. The win puts Bologna at a 17 and 5 mark… and their magic number at a second round bid at 2.
The Rimini Pirates earned the two game sweep of Nettuno2 on Saturday evening in Rimini with a 5-1 win. Picking up the win for for the Pirates was Carlos Richetti. Richetti tossed up an impressive 7 innings of 1 hit, 1 run ball before giving way to Cherubini in the 8th, and Corradini in the 9th. The ‘W’ puts Rimini at a 15 and 7 mark… 2 games up on Padova, and 3 on both Nettuno and San Marino with just 6 to go.
