Rimini picks up left handed pitcher Josè Escalona

The Rimini baseball organization has communicated yet another new acquisition for next year, officially announcing that Josè Escalona will be joining their pitching staff for 2014. Josè is a left handed pitcher from Venezuela, born in 1986 with both a Venezuelan and Italian passport.

Rimini will officially be Escalona’s 4 club in Italy, having played for Unione Picena (Serie A2) in 2009 where he posted an impressive 1.24 ERA in 101.2 IP, T&A S. Marino where he accumulated 3 wins and 6 saves in 2010, and Nettuno 2011 where his numbers were inflated to a 3.49 ERA with 59.1 IP before he was suspended for PED’s and handed down a 2 years suspension from the IBL. Currently Escalona is playing in the Venezuelan winter league with the Cardenales de Lara. His current number on the mound include a 7.50 ERA in 18 IP, 15 so and 12 walks.
