New ballpark to be built just outside Venice

PONTE DI PIAVE, Italy - Meetings between FIBS RegionalDirector of Veneto, Roberto Culicchi, and the city hall of Ponte di Piaveresulted in a collaboration to build Italy's newest baseball field in Ponte diPiave, a small town of approximately 8,000 people that is situated about 30miles northeast of Venice.

Talks at the mayor Roberto Zanchetta's office also included FIBS President,Riccardo Fraccari.

City officials presented the plans and announced that groundwill be broken in the summer. 

Fraccari, who is also the International Baseball FederationPresident, anticipates the strategic area will be an attractive site in which to holdinternational competitions.
