ITALY OFF A VERY GOOD START IN THE BASEBALL WORLD JUNIORS

Team Italy made an outstanding debut in the AAA World Cup in Thunder Bay (Canada) beating Venezuela 6-5 after 2 extra innings.
Starter Filippo Crepaldi gave the azzurri a solid start, but reliever Meschini took the game into the 11th inning, while Tiberi claimed the win pitching one inning in relief.
Ebau starred for Italy in left field, with a couple of extraordinary catches. Third baseman Benetti batted in the runs that tied the game and took it to extra innings.
A fielding error by Venezuelan catcher Sequera gave Italy the win in the 11th.

"It was the victory of the heart" commented Team Italy's manager Gianguido Poma.

In the second game of the tournament Italy lost against a powerful Team USA

Italy will now face France, Chinese Taipei and Australia. The game against France looks like a key match to make it amongst the top four of the group.
