Team Italy manager Maristella Perizzolo has to be proud of her U15 softball squad after two big wins over Germany and the Netherlands in the U15 European Softball Championship in Enschede on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
Team Italy pitchers Kylie Milano and Giulia Squalizza threw a combined two-hitter to secure the 16-3 four-inning mercy-rule victory over Germany in the morning game. Inside-the-park home runs by Alida Campioni, Kylie Milano and Lucia Polini as well as a two-run triple from Emma Silva highlighted the Team Italy offensive attack.

Emma Silva was called upon to start for Team Italy against the Netherlands in the nightcap. She tossed six innings and allowed just one run on four hits with six strikeouts.
The Italians went right to work in the bottom of the first inning when Sveva Moggi reached first base on an infield error and scored on an RBI triple by Lucia Polini.
Team Italy added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Alida Campioni hit an infield single and crossed the plate on an RBI triple from Kylie Milano. An RBI single by Mirta Anselmi yielded another run.
The Netherlands scored one run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 3-1. Team Italy answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Vittoria Zumerle singled up the middle and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Emma Silva. After Lucia Polini was intentionally walked, Noemi Cortesi hit a two-run triple to make it a 5-1 game.

Team Italy plays two games on Thursday, July 21, 2022. The first contest against Lithuania begins at 9:15 am (local time). The Italians return at 4:15 pm (local time) for a clash against Ukraine. Team Italy battles Great Britain on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 2 pm (local time). The U15 European Softball Championship Placement Games, Bronze Medal Game and Gold Medal Game take place on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
