The United States, a real “Dream Team”

Those in charge of assembling the Team USA for the World Baseball Classic probably has a feeling of participating in a Fantasy Baseball League with 28 first round draft picks. And what about the coaching staff where you will find manager Joe Torre, pitching coach Greg Maddux, third base coach Willie Randolph and bench coach Larry Bowa. These are all names not to be taken lightly as this coaching staff alone has been at the top of the baseball world for decades.

From here we move onto this ridiculous roster filled with all-stars from top  to bottom. The Red, White and Blue are going to be able to count on the  2012 National League Cy Young Award winner, R.A. Dickey (Toronto Blue  Jays) who will be displaying his devastating knuckleball. Following Dickey  you may come across some other names that you just might recognize,  such as, Jimmy Rollins (shortstop, Phillies), Mark Teixeira (first base,  Yankees), David Wright (third base, Mets), Ryan Braun (outfield, Brewers),  Giancarlo Stanton (outfield, Marlins), Adam Jones (outfield, Orioles), and  Joe Mauer (catcher, Twins)… all competitors that should  guarantee the US  marching forward in this addition of the World Baseball Classic.
The motivator role with naturally be left to their skipper, Joe Torre, one of the most winning managers in the history of the New York Yankees. Mr. Torre will be putting on a uniform for the first time in a couple of years as he has been serving as the executive vice president of Major League Baseball Operations since February of 2011.

In this third attempt of winning this tournament, the United States can’t fail. After a shocking loss in the second round to Mexico in the 2006 WBC (a team that they will go up against in Phoenix), and upsetting loss in the semifinals of the 2009 tournament, their expectations are nothing less then gold in 2013, and this goes without saying… they are the heavy favorites and expected to breeze through Pool “D”.

United States at Italy (Chase Field, Phoenix AZ) on Saturday, March 9th at 3:00 Italian time.
