PISA – The world governing body of baseball, the International Baseball Federation (IBAF), is organizing an umpire camp at the National Olympic Training Centre in Tirennia (Pisa), Italy.

Ten umpires from Italy got the nod to attend the camp and hone their skills under the tutelage of the chairman of IBAF’s Umpires Commission, Gus Rodriguez.

Rodriguez has pulled out his ball-strikes-out-innings “counter” to work the Olympic Games and College World Series, and now he is intent on standardizing game-calling and rules interpretation in international competition, in order to ensure the game is officiated with reliability across the continents.

The 10 Italian “blues” are among 22 international umpires that made the trip to Pisa.
