ROME – The first two games of the 2012 Italian Baseball Series are in the books, and San Marino couldn’t be sitting any prettier, after having taken come away with two wins in front of the home crowd at Serravalle Stadium in the Republic of San Marino.

To open up the series, San Marino used a 8-5 come-from-behind victory to steal a well-played game from Rimini.  Heading into the bottom of the 9th, Rimini just needed to secure its 5-3 need by getting the final three outs of the game, but San Marino came out of the dugout swinging, which ended with Yepez slamming a 3-run walkoff homerun.

No dramatics were needed for Game 2, as San Marino put up two runs in their half of the first inning, while Rimini was held scoreless throughout the affair.

The Italian Baseball Series will resume on Thursday at Pirate Stadium in Rimini. Rimini will have the next three games at home.
