ROME – The Italian Softball League postseason opened up this past weekend and of the four games contested, two were full-on blowouts and two were one-run affairs.

In the playoff opener, Caserta quickly sent the Blue Girls from Bologna to the showers, wrapping things up in five innings, with a 13-2 lopsided game.  Caserta racked up 16 hits compared to Bologna’s  5.

Bologna came close to biting the dust in the rematch, but Caserta couldn’t finish up the deed. With a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th, Bologna put together 2 runs on three hits to walk-off the field with the win.

In Bollate, the home team edged past La Loggia 2-1.  Bollate broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the 7th inning to hand La Loggia the loss.

Bollate brought out the big sticks for the game under the lights, peppering La Loggia pitchers for 11 runs on 10 hits.  Bollate only needed three rounds at the plate, before shutting out and shutting the lights off on La Loggia.

The best-of-five playoffs will continue this weekend.
