ENSCHEDE (Ned) – The hardnosed softballers from Caserta closed out the first round of the 2012 Women’s softball European Cup, which is unfolding in Enschede, Netherlands.
Caserta came out swinging with a 16-0 win, but got counterpunched 6-1 by top-seed Sparks (NED).
Caserta gathered their senses in Game 3, just edging Carrousel (RUS) 3-2.
The heavy artillery was taken out for this morning’s contest against German-grown Mannheim. The game lasted 4 innings and saw Caserta (wo)-manhandle Mannheim 11-0. Caserta dusted off their knee-pads for a seven-zip afternoon win against the Tex Town Tigers (NED).
Caserta will be jockeying for position tomorrow versus the Prague Eagles (CZE).
Championship rings will be decided and dished out Saturday.
