The votes have been counted and teams selected for the 2013 All Star matchup

With the closing of the All Star vote, and the posting of the players picked by Mazzieri (Italian National Team head coach), the rosters for the two teams to face off in Ronchi dei Legionari on Saturday the 6th of July are almost complete

With the closing of the All Star vote, and the posting of the players picked by Mazzieri (Italian National Team head coach), the rosters for the two teams to face off in Ronchi dei Legionari on Saturday the 6th of July are almost complete. This will be the third annual All Star matchup between the voted in players and the selection of National team members, but the first time the two sides will be meeting up in the city of Ronchi dei Legionari.

Beginning with the All Star team that will be coached by T&A San Marino’s manager, Doriano Bindi, where it was the Rimini Pirates and Palfinger Reggio Emilia had the biggest success in getting their ball players voted in.

Receiving the vote behind the plate was Jairo Josè Marquez from Reggio Emilia with 41% of the vote (Bertognon of Rimini finished 2nd with 22%), At first it will Giuseppe Spinelli will be getting the start with 28% of the vote (Biagini of Reggio Emilia finished second at 26%). At second Alessandro Vaglio of Bologna was the most popular amongst the fans with 34%, however the second baseman will most likely be wearing the colors of the National team come game time. Finishing second in the vote (23%) and most likely getting the nod will be Rimini’s second baseman, Riccardo Babini. Starting at third in front of his hometown crowd will be Mario Miceu with 34% of the vote, and the player that received the majority at short was Erick Epifano of Palfinger Reggio Emilia (45%). Epifano, just like Vaglio will be suiting up with team Italy, thus giving Jack Santora of Rimini the call at short as he received the second most votes with 22%. The three outfielders getting the call are Luca Gregorini of Reggio Emilia (25%), and the two Rimini outfielders, Mario Charini (18%) and Alex Romero (13%). Lastly, getting the vote in the DH role was another hometown athlete (Ronchi dei Legonari), Enrico Cecotti with 37%. Doriano Bindi will be adding 9 more players of his choice to round out his roster.

The squad that the All Star Team will be facing off against next Saturday will be Marco Mazzieri selection of Italian National Team members which include: 11 pitchers - Barbaresi, D'Angelo, Richetti Unipol Bologna); Cooper, Da Silva (T&A San Marino); Corradini (Rimini); Crepaldi (Palfinger Reggio Emilia); Riccardo De Santis, Andrea Pizziconi (Nettuno); Loardi, Rivera (Parma), 2 catchers - Reginato (T&A San Marino); Sabbatani (Unipol Bologna)
7 infielders - D'Amico, Infante, Malengo, Vaglio (Unipol Bologna); Epifano (Palfinger Reggio Emilia); Martone (Nettuno); Sambucci (Parma)
5 outfielders - Grimaudo (Nettuno); De Simoni, Poma (Parma); Caradonna (Godo Knights); Avagnina (T&A San Marino).
