Parma is all tied up with Nettuno, and Bologna sweeps thanks to an impressive late inning comeback

Up in Novara, Parma escaped another close call, and once again on the back of a brilliant Sanchez

Up in Novara, Parma escaped another close call, and once again on the back of a brilliant Sanchez. One run was the difference in this matchup, and it came in the second with two outs on the board when Poma scored from third on a wild pitch by the Venezuelan Southpaw, Calero. That would be it in terms of scoring in this one, as from that point on neither team would be able to get anything going on offense with the game turning out to be quite a pitchers dual between of Sanchez (win) – Tabata (save) for Parma and Calero (loss) – Torres for Novara. The two clubs will meet up again tomorrow afternoon back up in Piamonte with a start time of 15:30.

Rimini got by Nettuno on the road with the dual of Corradini and Marquez on Friday evening. The final in this one was 5-1, with the loss being handed to Andrea Pizziconi on Nettuno’s side. The loss now means that Nettuno is officially tied with Parma for that fourth and final playoff spot, but currently the odd man out thanks to Parma holding the tiebreak between the two. Zileri, Castro, and Spinelli all picked up two his apiece for Rimini, while Bertagnon and Spinelli each drove in two.. plus the solo shot off the bat of Castro the 2nd which all accounted to the 5 runs scored in the victory. These two teams will take the field once again tomorrow afternoon, with both clubs still playing for something.

Bologna got the best of San Marino once again, sweeping the two game series thanks to a late inning comeback. Bologna found themselves down 8-0 after one and a half innings of ball, but were able to slowing climb their way back in the game.. off of no other then a normally very tough Da Silva on the hill. After Unipol tied the game up at 11 all in the bottom of the 8th, the match went into extra’s, and with Seth La Fera on the bump for San Marino for the first time this year, and Sabbatani at the plate with one out in the frame, the game ended on a single to center when Reyes crossed the plate, scoring Bologna’s 12 run of the game. Thanks to San Marino suffering the series sweep the pressure has been official put back on their side of the court with two games left in the regular season, two very tough games with Rimini in a home-away series next week.
