In Parma it was a big fifth and seventh that set the difference between them and the visiting Novara ballclub, with Munoz’s squad taking the game in 7 innings by the final of 11 to 1. With the home team coming out on top they now pull to within 2 games of both San Marino and Nettuno for that last postseason spot heading the final six games of the regular season.

Friday evening’s game was scoreless for more then half its duration. In fact the games first runs didn’t come till the bottom of the 5th, when Parma broke the ice with a 3 run inning. 3 runs on 4 hits and error off of Torres who had been lights out till that point, not surrendering a single hit to Parma’s offense through the first 4. Torres’s day finished with a line of 5 innings pitched, 4 hits , 3 earned runs, 3 walks and, 3 strikeouts. In his relief came Di Taddeo, who was anything but brilliant, as the game began to unravel for Novara on his watch in the 7th when he allowed 5 of the 8 earned runs that were scored by Parma in the frame (the other 3 came off of Franttini).

On Parma’s side of the ball it was Yomel Rivera who picked up the win with 5 solid innings of work (5 ip, 2 h, 0 r, 2 bb, 3 so). Alvaro Montes came onto pick up the save by throwing the last 2. Ofensivly for Parma it was Ugolotti (2 for 3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI’s), Leoni (2 for 3 with 1 run and 2 RBI’s), De Simoni (2 RBI’s), and Lori (2 for 3 with 1 run and 2 RBI’s) that were the difference makers for Munoz in this one. Next up for Parma is Grosseto for 2, Novara once again for 2, before finishing off with Reggio Emilia for 2 in a home-away series.. The postseason begins now…
