Team Italy plays with heart in loss to Panama in U12 Baseball World Cup

After two scoreless innings and an excellent Team Italy starting pitcher debut for Sabrina Bottazi, Panama took control of the game and won the five-inning mercy-rule 10-0 shutout at the U12 Baseball World Cup in Tainan, Taiwan on Sunday, July 31, 2022

Team Italy manager Stefano Burato made history when he chose left-handed pitcher Sabrina Bottazzi to become the first girl to start a game at the sixth edition of the U12 Baseball World Cup in Tainan, Taiwan on Sunday, July 31, 2022. She pitched well for the first two innings before Panama got hot and scored three runs off her. Reliever Antonio Vaio entered the game with bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning when Panama stuck again for three more runs

Down 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Team Italy relief pitcher Edoardo Angioni tried his best to stop the offensive attack, but Panama put up three runs.

Panama starting pitcher Edward Delgado limited the Azzurrini offense to just a bunt single by Matteo Almonte in the top of the first inning and a single from Tommaso Destro in the top of the fourth inning.

Panama enforced the 10-run mercy rule win in the bottom of the fifth inning when scoring an unearned run off Team Italy reliever Pierangelo Ongaro.
