Padova off to a fantastic 8-0 start

No surprises this week in the IBL2D/A league as in Division B Tommasin Padova remained undefeated on the year winning their 8th in a row

No surprises this week in the IBL2D/A league as in Division B Tommasin Padova remained undefeated on the year winning their 8th in a row.  Bollate and Novara went at it in Division A as the first and second place teams split. Urbe Roma holds onto a 2 game lead in Division C.

In Division A first place Bollate took a split in their series with the second place Novara Piemonte squad. Bollate took game one of the doubleheader by a score of 8-5 on the road. They were able to accumulate 14 hits in the game, which included a solo-shot by Sheldon. In game two it was a big 5 run third that was the difference in Novara walking away with the ‘W’. Bollate moves to 8 and 2 and Novara stands at 3 and 2 in limited play this year. Senago Milano began the weekend in third and finished right behind the first place Bollate club, 2 games off the place, all thanks to their second straight weekend sweep. Senago took game one against Collecchio 7-4 and game 2 6-0. Rounding out the rest of the division, Cs Medical Codogno split with Rebecchi Normeccanica Piacenza, as did Crocetta and Oltretorrente.

In Division B it was no surprise that Tommasin Padova continued their march towards total domination. The highly favored squad from Veneto easily took game 1 of the double-dip vs. the Bologna Athletics, 10-0 in only seven innings of play. In game two it was the Leonardo Astorga show, as the Padova’s right-hander threw a complete game, striking out 19 of Bologna’s batter. Rimini Riviera was able to keep pace the first place Padova club by sweeping their series with Imola. Game ones final score was 3-1, while game two finished 5-0.  All eyes will be on this upcoming Sunday’s big matchup between the 1 and 2 in this Division. Rounding out the rest of the division, Modena finally climbed out of the cellar by taking two games from Rovigo, while Sala Baganza pounded all over Castenaso, 5-2 and 11-1.

In Division C Urbe Roma is leading the way, even after splitting their weekend series with Recotech Padula Baseball. With the split Roma (8-2) remains two games up on C.U.S. Messina A.S.D. (6-4), Recotech Padule Baesball (7-5), and A.S.D. Anzio Baseball (7-5). The division is somewhat lopsided, with the top teams (Roma, Messina, Padula, and Anzio) all being series A clubs whom are distanced by at least 3 games in the standings from the bottom two IBL 2 teams (Pesaro Fano and Nettuno). As the season moves on look for tight race, as four of the six teams will be fighting for postseason spots.
