After finishing third in U17 European Baseball5 Championship Group B behind Lithuania and Romania, Team Italy faces France, a team that suffered its only loss to Group A leader Turkey by a score of 5-4 on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 10:30 am. Team Italy manager Maurizio Balla said, “After the victory against Israel, the squad loosened up and began to play for fun. The key to our success is certainly the defense. Along with France and Turkey, we are only one of three teams that have not committed any errors.”
Team Italy must defeat France in the morning in order to advance to the semifinals later in the early afternoon. The U17 European Baseball5 Championship final takes place on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 2 pm, while the battle for the bronze precedes the gold medal game at 12:30 pm.
The Team Italy U17 Baseball5 squad includes: Beatrice Deregibus, Chiara Pecorelli, Filippo Sabatini, Riccardo Sana, Alessandro Micheli, Giada Cardani, Arianna Ponzi and Iacopo Cavedon.
