Team Italy made history in the first-ever WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup by going undefeated (3-0) in the competition. Three consecutive shutouts by the Italians (13-0 over France, 6-0 over Germany and 10-0 over Great Britain) resulted in a gold medal finish. USA defeated Germany 4-1 in the battle for the bronze medal.
In the WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup Gold Medal Game against Great Britain, the Team Italy offense was fueled by Most Valuable Player Award recipient Giorgio Napoli, who went 4-for-5, and Best Hitter Award winner Luca Parravano, who was a perfect 3-for-3 in the championship final. Other contributors included Arjola Dedaj and Saliou Diane (3-for-3) and Danny Olivieri (4-for-5). Congratulations to Team Italy manager Fabio Azzaro as well as the entire Azzurri coaching staff and squad on a job well done.
