Last go around with interleague play in the ISL this season

All eyes will be on the city of Bologna when it comes to Italian Softball this weekend

All eyes will be on the city of Bologna when it comes to Italian Softball this weekend. Eight games are on tap, and all of them with a significant amount of importance. In a mater of 24 hours the Blue Girls Bologna club and Des Caserta will face off with Rhibo La Loggia (Saturday against Bologna and Sunday against Caserta) and Banco di Sardegna Nuoro (Saturday against Caserta and Sunday against Bologna).

It’s the last time this year that we will be seeing interleague play in the ISL and it’s sure to be a weekend packed with excitement. In fact this weekend we may just be seeing a couple of early playoff previews. Also after Saturday and Sunday, apart from the games that need to be recuperated, there are only a total of five series per club left on the schedule which make this weekend all the much more important for those clubs that are still in the race. The games to keep an eye on will be the games where Dagmar Bloeming (Caserta), Johana Gomez (Bologna), Femke Van Duschotten (Rhibo La Loggia), andLindsey Beisser (Nuoro) take the mound for their respective teams. Both Bloeming and Gomez are out to bounce back from two difficult losses a week ago while Van Duschotten and Beisser are out to prove that they are both forces to be reckoned with.

With Sanotint Bollate flying high following last weeks very successful 4 “W’s” the team must not overlook a very tough Dino Bigioni Unione Fermana club, especially on the road. Currently Bollate is hitting .335 as a club with a very lethal weapon in Greta Cecchetti on the hill, who is riding on an 8-0 record. On the other side of the diamond, Unione Fermana, is coming into this weekend with a team average of .273 (5th best in the ISL) and a team ERA of 2.10 (4th best in the ISL). Bollate will be off on Sunday while Dino Bigioni Unione Fermana will be matching up with AMGA Legnano.

The weekend rounds out as follows: Saturday, Collecchio vs. Forli, Bussolengo vs. Urbe Roma; Sunday, Collecchio vs. Urbe Roma, Bussolengo vs. Forli.
