On this day 23 years ago, the dream of innovator Alfredo Meli came true with the help of the Cavazza Institute for the Blind in Bologna. It was there that a small group of volunteers, coaches, players and friends assembled to create the with the understanding that all the blind and visually impaired could enjoy playing baseball and at the same time help themselves in their daily lives.

Alfredo Meli wanted Baseball for the Blind to be available to as many visually impaired people as possible around the world. On March 26, 1998, he gathered with U. Calzolari, I. Seragnoli, F.V. Bruzzi, N. Vincenti, G. Lomonaco, G. Stupazzoni, and S. Petrucci to sign the proclamation which has since gained universal acceptance and critical acclaim.

Recognized by , the , and , gives us hope that more and more visually impaired people can enjoy playing baseball while improving their quality of life. Forza #Italia!
