ROME – The softballers from Caserta beat Bollate 7-2 in Game 5 of the best-of-five Italian Softball Championship Series.
Caserta forced a game five, with a 1-0 shutout win yesterday, which warded off thoughts of surrendering the championship trophy that has found a home in Caserta for the last three years.
Now FIBS will renew the trophy's one-year “lease-agreement” in Caserta.
With the exception of Game 5, all Italian Softball Championship series games were decided by only one run.
Last week, Caserta and Bollate both won games by a score of 2-1.
Yesterday, Bollate came within one game of winning the championship by opening up a doubleheader with a 4-3 win.
